Welcome!
I currently hold a Ramón y Cajal fellowship awarded by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness (2018-2023) at the Political Science and Public Law department of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). I am a member of the Research Group Democracy, Elections and Citizenship (P.I. Eva Anduiza).
I obtained a PhD in political science from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF, 2008) and I have held postdoctoral fellowships at the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (UAB, 2009-2011), Université de Montréal (UdeM, 2012-2015) and Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC, 2015-2018). I have also been an associated and visiting professor at the UPF and a visiting researcher at Stanford University.
My research interests revolve around two major research strands: public opinion and local participation. I have invested most of my efforts in the first strand, investigating the psychological factors that lead to participation. I have conducted research on political interest, internal efficacy and the duty to vote. In 2014 I was awarded my first research grant as a co-applicant (along with André Blais), which has allowed me to explore the psychological determinants of turnout.
Currently, my research interests include the links between emotions and political attitudes (e.g. populism, affective polarization, tolerance, political interest), the political socialization process and any political attitude that makes an individual more prone to participate in politics.
